CARE was founded and incorporated in response to community demand for professional counseling and substance abuse prevention services for local children and families.

1986

+ Counseling services provided for youth and families at the CARE counseling center and for students at Rio Vista High School and Isleton School.

Annual Rio Pro Am Windsurfing Tournament fundraiser.

Adolescent peer groups conducted for high school and middle school students.

Open Gym recreation program at Riverview Middle School initiated by volunteers.

Helped coordinate Rio Vista's first Town Hall attended by 135 citizens, resulting in the formation of a community Drug and Alcohol Task Force on Youth.

Annual Buck McPherson Golf Tournament fundraiser.

+ Increased counseling staff to three therapists.

+ Annual GALA fundraising event, wine tasting, strolling supper and auction.

€ Hired part-time Americorps Member.

+€ Implemented home-visiting program with bilingual Outreach Worker serving families with children aged 0-5 in the community and outlying rural areas.

An FRC parent Involvement group was formed whose inspiration led to reactivating the KRVH radio station. Now Radio Rio 91.5 FM

+€ Provided parenting classes for Spanish-speaking parents.
+ Offered tuition free class at We Care Preschool.
+ Provided the Trilogy Annual Christmas Program for disadvantaged children.

2004

+ Conducted a Bully-awareness Program for 5th grade students at Riverview Middle School and 8th grade students at Isleton School.

2005

€ Contracted with the City of Rio Vista to access Master Tobacco Settlement Funds (MSA) for counseling At-risk youth.

2006

+ The Care Collaborative consisting of Rio Vista CARE and River Delta Healthy Start was formed to foster intra-school district collaboration.

2007

+ Conducted school-based youth groups; a Grief Group at DH White Elementary, a boys social skills group at Isleton Elementary and a girls relational aggression group at Riverview Middle School

2008

Addition of the website to augment dissemination of information and facilitate fundraising.
