“Without a sense of caring, there can be no sense of community.”

Dear Community Friends:

Rio Vista CARE is embarking on its 23rd year of providing services which are unique in our community.

Our professional counselors provide a safe, trusting environment for children, adults and families, helping them to achieve healthy and positive changes in their lives.  Sometimes our clients experience life threatening issues - in the past year, 18 teens received crisis interventions due to threatened harm to themselves or others.

The need for our services is ever present!  Our client waiting lists continue year round at the CARE Counseling Center and at the Rio Vista and Isleton schools.  In the words of one of our counselors:

“As a new counselor working at Rio Vista CARE this year, I am struck by the need for counseling services for our local children - even for those as young as 6 or 7 years.  Many families in our community are coping with divorce, addiction, poverty, death, depression, and chronic illness.  It is often the children who give voice and shape to a family's pain.  It is imperative that we take the time to listen.”

We need your help!  Significant cuts in Solano County funding are impacting Rio Vista CARE to the extent that we may not be able to maintain our services to children and families at the current level.

Our heartfelt thanks to the many individuals and businesses in this community who have been incredibly supportive of Rio Vista CARE over the last 22 years.

We hope you will give generously to CARE's 2008 Fund Drive.

Sincerely,

Connie Woodward, Board President                Araminta Blackwelder,  Executive Director
